Dignité Bwiza

Dignité Bwiza joined the Promoting Pre-trial Justice in Africa team in July 2013 as a Research Assistant for Francophone Africa. She is a PhD candidate at Witwatersrand University, where she is conducting research in International environmental law. She holds an LLM in International Protection of Human Rights and Humanitairain Law from the University of the Western Cape (south Africa) and a Licence en Droit from Université Ouverte (DRC). She practices as an attorney in the DRC since 2008 and is a human rights activist since 2007. She worked with various international NGOs, National Development Programmes and most recently with the United Nations (MONUSCO and UNDP) on improving the judicial system of the DRC. Her areas of interests are rule of law, access to justice (particularly women’s access to justice) and reform of correctional services in Africa.
