ACJR researcher Gwen Dereymaeker presented a paper on the constitutional compliance with international human rights law and the criminal justice process at the 6th Annual Conference of the Younger Comparativists Committee of the American Society for Comparative Law, which took place at Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey.

On 28 and 29 April 2017, ACJR researcher Gwen Dereymaeker participated in the 6th Annual Conference of the Younger Comparativists Committee of the American Society for Comparative Law, which took place at Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Conference saw the attendance of over 100 young academics from around the world and more than 60 papers were delivered on a wide variety of topics, both in private law and public law.

Gwen’s paper drew on earlier research she coordinated on the constitutionality of criminal procedure and prison law in Africa (the comparative research report can be found here and the country reports can be found here for Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire [in French and in English], Kenya [here and here], Mozambique and Zambia). Her conference paper provided a comparative perspective on constitutional compliance with international human rights law and the criminal justice process.
